Introduction

Nico Viergever is an independent management consultant, specialised in change. Having years of experience in project management and programme management, I am dedicated to helping organisations to improve the results of their changes initiatives: projects and programmes. As far as I am concerned there is a great need to do things better and different to prevent unnecessary failure of projects and programmes. Failure is too costly, not just in terms of money but also in human terms.

"We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them"

Albert Einstein

I help organisations to think differently!

Models for change

In a world that is more competitive than ever, organisations need to adapt. Not just commercial organisations have to fight for growth or their survival but also public sector organisations are under constant pressure to change their focus and services. It is extremely important that change is handled in a controlled manner. If not, waste is created resulting in financial damages and – far more important – a negative influence on people!
Several models are available for controlling change. I believe that Axelos (previously: the Office of Government Commerce (OGC)) have mature and workable approaches:
  • MSP™ for programme management
  • PRINCE2® for project management
Application of these models can help gaining more benefits with less effort. But only with proper application. This is what very often goes wrong in the real world. A different way of thinking is necessary and I can make people think.

"All models are wrong, but some are useful.”

Your initiatives can be managed with more chance of success and less risk!
I have years of experience with an often different, but usually successful approach. Not always? I am also realistic: change is risky. Hundred percent success can not be guaranteed. But far better results, more predictability and more right control I can guarantee. That is my offer.

Evaluation

What is de viability of your initiative? Are risks controlled? Are there any surprises?

Better safe than sorry!

Failing projects cost enormous amounts of money, motivation of people and reputations. But almost always they are caused by unidentified risks. Will you keep taking the same risks or even ignore them? Or is it better to be safe than sorry?
